It was an exciting day yesterday – Advance Reading Copies (ARC's) of my debut middle grade novel arrived at my apartment! I absolutely love everything from the cover art, to overall design, typeset, interior pages... it was a very special moment to finally hold this book in my hands. Are you a book reviewer? Please reach out to the HarperCollins Children's Books publicity department to request an advance reader's edition, and thank you for your interest in The Unlikely Story of a Pig in the City! Publication date is 10/3/17.
I just finished the ARC of A RAMBLER STEALS HOME by debut author Carter Higgins, and let me tell you, it is entirely charming and heartwarming – it'll make you experience the full spectrum of human emotion on the pages. The main character, Derby, has an authentic voice that jumps right off the page, and the narrative is a sensory explosion of sights, smells, and sounds of summer at the ballpark. You might remember Carter's contributions in my past post on creating a welcoming at-home children's library – and I was lucky enough to meet her in-person at the SCBWI-NY conference a few weeks ago! She is just as warm and friendly as I thought she'd be. Join me today with a fun author Q&A and learn more about Carter, her writing process, and A RAMBLER STEALS HOME... On shelves next Tuesday, 2/28!

Some of my most popular photographs on Instagram are pictures of our little boho apartment library, and lately I've been getting lots of questions about it – which children's books are our favorites, where I bought my vintage rugs, how I encourage reading time, that sort of thing. Today on the blog, join me and K-6 Librarian and kid's book author Carter Higgins as we share some tips for creating your own welcoming, inclusive, cozy home library space that will help promote a love of reading and open the doors of conversation about the world we live in.
In just a few short days, SIREN SISTERS, a highly-anticipated middle grade debut novel, will hit shelves! I love 'How I Got My Agent' stories, so I figured others out there might be interested in my own journey to representation and a two-book deal! So, here goes... PSA: this post is a looooong one.
