Windmills

{photo credit Jonathan Gill}

About ten years ago I went to the Hamptons with a group of friends for a long weekend. It was the only time I've ever been there, but a highlight was eating dinner at the home of a former U.S. President's daughter. I wish I could remember more details of the evening, but the strongest memory I have is driving up the long, oak-lined driveway and feeling mesmorized by the beauty of an old waterfront windmill.

Another windmill memory: traveling by train to Sevilla, Spain. An old man sat next to me – his jacket smelled of faint cigarette smoke and coffee. As we passed La Mancha, he pointed to the windmills in a field and said, "Los molinos de viente de Don Quixote," and I pressed my hand to the glass as if I could reach them.

I have an odd fascination for windmills.
I dream of finding some vintage blades one day I can hang in my house.
Sounds weird but I saw it in a design magazine once and LOVED it.

I do, actually! I was in Holland as a teenager, completely mesmerized by everything I saw. We were in Amsterdam but then left to view the countryside. The windmills were incredible and now I have such a weakness for everything relating to them! I love that you love them too :)

These are so pretty- I am not sure if I have seen any windmills like this in real life! I must :)

Those are stunning images of windmills. I'd like to own one of those pics!
We did have a fantastic time in your city, last week. My feet are still recovering, but it was all worth it!
