Black Sand Beaches

Due to St. Lucia's volcanic history, some of the beaches have exotic black sand. Before this vacation, I'd never stepped foot on a black sand beach before. The contrast between the color of the sand and crystal-clear waters was stunning! These photos are from our second resort, Anse Chastanet in Soufriere. This resort is close to the Pitons and has two especially dramatic black sand beaches. One of our favorite things we did during our stay was walk over to Anse Mamin beach at sunset. This beach is a secluded treasure, more rustic and unmanicured compared to the Anse Chastanet beach. Here are some images of both black sand beaches...

oh so beautiful... i miss the beach already! though, I cannot complain since we are enjoying this Indian summer :)
