Writing in Brooklyn
Tuesday, November 8, 2011
As I briefly mentioned yesterday, I spent Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn with my writing group. I *rarely* go to Brooklyn. I don't know why... It feels far away and unfamiliar, I guess. I could probably count the times I've been there in the last decade. Buying my wedding dress. Brooklyn Brainery classes. A reading at WORD. A few other random things. But it was such a fun day outside Manhattan, I'm glad I ventured out!

I wandered around on my own for a bit then enjoyed lunch and coffee with my writing friends, talking manuscripts, craft, news, books, and all sorts of wonderful and inspiring things. Then we walked down to the Promenade. Here are some photos from the beautiful day...

What are your favorite Brooklyn spots/activities?
I need to branch out from my usual haunts – especially for writing!

Lovely photos! I'll be up there next week; I cannot wait!! I'm so looking forward to the Brooklyn Flea... and Brooklyn in general! Hope you're having a great week! xoxo
That's my old 'hood! I used to live in Brooklyn Heights and I wrote at that CT Muffin many times. :) You should come more often! Now I live in Park Slope and I highly recommend Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Museum and 5th and 7th avenues (which have restaurants and little boutiques). You should also visit DUMBO at some point - Brooklyn Bridge Park is really nice. Also, Smith Street has a lot of nice restaurants too.
Amanda, if you have time, I'd love to see you!! And Ghenet, awesome suggestions, thanks so much. I definitely need to do some more Brooklyn exploring. :)
