Off to D.C.

Well, I'm on the Acela Express train headed to Washington, D.C for the weekend!

If you read my blog regularly, you know that I head down to our nation's capital 4 or 5 times per year. But this trip is a special one in so many ways – It's my last time in D.C. before my due date, I have family and friends traveling to town, and my little sister is throwing me a baby shower. So I'm really looking forward to this weekend ahead.

Side note: this is my first time on the Acela Express. Compared to the regular Amtrak trains, I think it's definitely worth the padded fees. Here I am sitting in a comfy, reclining seat in business class with plenty of leg room, a folding table & complimentary Wi-Fi. There's a café. And the best part? I'm in the Quiet Car! No talking or cell phone use allowed. As opposed to flying, I didn't have to go through a long security line and deal with checking my bag, showing TSA my doctor's note & getting patted down. All I had to do was show up at Penn Station about thirty minutes before departure. If you've ever driven on 1-95 South from NYC to DC, you know all about rush hour & potential traffic delays, the frequent toll expenses, and that the trip takes twice as long. Train travel rules.

How fun! I'm heading down to DC this evening but I'm flying. I don't pay to fly so it's much easier for me! Have a great weekend!

Have a great time! I love the train. It's my favorite way to travel, though I don't get to do it too often. I've never tried Acela but it sounds wonderful.

@Christy – you definitely scored with your free flight connection ;) Have a great time here this weekend! The weather is so gorgeous today.

@Ghenet – I agree, I need to travel by train more frequently too! Depending on the destination, it can be so much easier than flying.
