Potomac River Run
Wednesday, April 13, 2011
This afternoon I really, really needed a break from my computer. So I slipped on my sneakers and hit the pavement around Arlington, Virginia and a bit of Washington, D.C. The weather was glorious for a relaxing run – overcast, a little windy, maybe sixty degrees or so –and before I knew it, five miles flew by.....

After looping around the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial and Netherlands Carillon, I ran along Arlington National Cemetery...

Then I picked up the pace and sprinted over the bridge, crossing into Washington D.C., weaving in and out out school tours to reach the Lincoln Memorial.

Watching my footing on the wet marble steps, I reached the top to see Lincoln...

And on the way out, snapped a shot of the reflecting pool construction zone...

Then I looped back to home base on the Virginia side, my feet squishing in soggy sneakers, my muscles sore, my blood pumping, and my head clear. Washington D.C. offers so many exciting running routes, I'm already looking forward to my runs tomorrow and Friday before I head back to New York...
