Washington, D.C. Travel Tweet-Up at FunXion
Friday, April 15, 2011
As luck would have it, there was a Washington D.C. Travel Tweet-up last night while I was in town. This event was held at FunXion, a dining spot that holds the title as DC's first FIT restaurant and bar. Translation: the food and beverage options have been specifically tailored by a top nutritionist and award-winning chef. There's no added salt, butter, oil or sugar. Vegetarian, vegan, organic and gluten-free options are available. Each item on the menu is tagged with an icon to assist consumers with making smart nutrition decisions – such as "Good 4 Heart," "Gluten Free," "Sugar Free," "Under 200 calories," and "3 grams of Fat or Less."
You might remember when I attended my first travel tweet-up in New York City. This one couldn't have been more different! While over 100 people – many of whom were strangers – attended the NYC event, the Washington D.C. travel tweet-up group appeared to all know each other pretty well.
Want an introduction to the great folks I met? LandLopers, Leisl Wiederkehr, Christina Saull, Sonia Zamborsky were in attendance. Being a small gathering, it was an intimate opportunity to get to know these travel industry tweeps. We sat out on the patrio, sharing a bit about ourselves, what we do, where we're headed next. They're a well-traveled group – upcoming trips include Jordan, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, Australia – so it was fun to share tips and stories from the road.
Thanks to the D.C. travel gang for the event invite. Happy travels...
