Weekend in Review + Photo Sesh Pics

Did you have a nice weekend? It was a beautiful, sunny weekend here in New York City, and ours was packed with activities...My nieces slept over on Friday night. We saw Harry Potter, ate ice cream, and played at the playground. I cherish the time I spend with them – tomorrow they're moving away to Washington D.C. I'm so happy they have a new adventure ahead, but it will be hard to be so far away from them.
On Saturday I had a photo shoot in Central Park... Overall it went pretty well. I don't like being in front of the camera, but I'm starting to get more comfortable with it. Here's a few of the pics...

That night we went out with a large group of friends to a famous spot in the Village called Cafe Wha?. If you haven't ever been, the place is awesome! It was my second time there, and we had so much fun. A comedian opens the show (this guy did some hilarious Dylan and Springsteen singing impressions) and then the house band takes over. They play everything from Journey to the Fugees to Kings of Leon. The singers rotate, and they are AMAZING. So you won't be disappointed if you go.
My parents are visiting this week as they prepare to close on the sale of their home, so they popped into the city on Sunday. We attended a service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle, grabbed brunch at a popular Old World deli, and enjoyed a boat tour. My parents are rarely up here in the north (have you noticed I visit Florida a lot?) so it was a lot of fun to hang out with them in my city. I'm looking forward to spending more time with them when I head down to St. Petersburg for almost three weeks this fall.
Phew. So it's been a busy last few days. My week ahead is all about prepping for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrator's conference in Los Angeles. I'm beyond excited to catch up with old friends, network with new ones, listen to this keynote speaker, and feel inspired about writing all over again. I'll be tweeting live from the conference and posting conference highlights early next week.

LOVE the pics!!
I love the pics too! Who took them?
These photos are wonderful; you look gorgeous! Hope you're having a great visit with your parents!
And thank you for your sweet comment today! I never knew you worked at Anthro - how cool! So, after a flurry of work to finish these garlands for them, I'm going to reward myself with a few days of downtime in NYC this fall. I'll let you know more later, and maybe we can catch up in person!! :)
Everytime I visit south, my fam asks me if I've visited the Brooklyn Tab yet, that's a good idea to do it when they visit! Glad you enjoyed yourself!
You look totally gorg in those photos lady!
