Moby Wrap Review

If you look at it unraveled, the Moby Wrap is really just a long piece of wide, durable fabric. But the genius behind the design is this concept: by manipulating the fabric into different babywearing positions, you can distribute the baby's weight between your shoulders and back and provide a safe environment for your baby (sans buckles, fasteners, plastic bits and dangilng cords!) while keeping your hands-free at the same time. I've been testing the Moby Wrap since March, and here are my thoughts on this popular baby product....

Baby Bjorn Travel Crib Light 2 Review

Traveling with a little one requires a lot more baggage (and prep time!) than I realized before I became a parent. I have friends who have groaned about the heaviness/bulkiness of their travel cribs, and so when I heard about Baby Bjorn's lightweight travel crib, I couldn't wait to test it out. We brought it with us on our first getaway with Townes – to North Fork, Long Island – and here's how it went...

Peg Perego Pliko Four Review

The Pliko Four is a redesign of one of Peg Perego's most popular stroller models. A few things were addressed in this update – there's an improved suspension system making it 30% easier to push than the former version, it got a new bumper bar, and was revamped with a four-wheel (versus eight-wheel) design. So what'd I think when we took this stroller – marketed to "families on-the-go" – to the streets of New York City and beyond?

Favorite (Under-the-Radar!) Picture Books

I bet most parents have a copy of Goodnight Moon, Olivia, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on the bookshelf. But there's so many wonderful picture books out there that just don't get as much attention.

I began my children's book collection about ten years ago, it magnified when I joined SCBWI, and now that I'm a mother, it's full-blown out of control. But I love picture books! Who cares that we have no shelf space! We started a routine of reading to Townes a few books a day when he's calm and alert. He coos and gu's along and stares at the pages and just takes it all in. Such a special, intimate bonding time for us, and I hope he grows to love reading as much as we do.

Here are just a few of my current, under-the-radar picture book favorites......

Three Months (already?!)

Townes turned three months old yesterday. Everyone told us how quickly time flies when you have children, but it's incredible to experience it for ourselves. I was looking at these photos yesterday, and it's already hard to believe that Townes was ever that tiny.

New York Baby Show

Yesterday I live-tweeted from the New York Baby Show as a press guest (see my snapshots on twitter here.) If you're an expecting or new parent (or need baby shower gifts!), I'd definitely recommend checking out this NYC event today or in the future. There's a ton of vendors and product demonstrations – even a Dad's Lounge! Babies and toddlers are welcome. Yesterday the legendary Happiest Baby on the Block writer and pediatrician Dr. Harvey Karp spoke (you know I love him.) Some of my favorite baby brands are in attendance. Discover more here.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms & moms-to-be out there! I had a wonderful first mother's day. Two of my siblings have been visiting (more on this later) and the weather was beautiful here in the city. We snapped this pic of me with the little man this afternoon – I feel so blessed. Townes is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me.  xo

Petites Frites Blanket Review

Living most of my life in cold climates, I've become a sucker for cozy blankets. There's nothing quite like wearing your pajamas, sipping a cup of steaming tea, and wrapping a soft, giant blanket around your shoulders. When Petites Frites sent Townes a baby blanket a few weeks ago, I wasn't quite sure how I'd go about testing and reviewing it. A blanket is a blanket, right? I couldn't have been more wrong! Don't be fooled by the label – this blanket is not just a baby blanket. It's the blanket for everyone! And it's now my favorite blanket in our home. Let me tell you why...

Stokke Xplory Stroller Review

Stokke has been on my radar for awhile now – after all, we bought the crib and changing table for our son's nursery nook, and I recently reviewed the brand-new Bounce 'n Sleep. And since the birth of my son, Townes, we've been testing out the Stokke Xplory stroller with Carry Cot in New York City (you may remember when we set it up?). After countless adventures around the city, here's our full review of this product...
