Have you checked out Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine's Babyspace website yet? It opens the door to "fabulous baby rooms around the country" and I'm *SO* honored that they asked to feature my son Townes' nursery. Have you been to Flatiron Plaza lately? Will Ryman has a new outdoor art installation, Bird, on display. It stands 12-feet tall and is made out of steel nails. On an adventure downtown with a friend yesterday, we had the opportunity to see Bird in person, and it's magnificent. Everyone was stopping in the plaza to take photographs and get a closer look at its materials and construction. Head to Flatiron at 23rd & Broadway to see Bird for yourself (before April 21st) and read an interview with artist Ryman here.

Andrea and Thad's first-born is due in just a few weeks, and they've created the sweetest space to welcome little Summer Rose's arrival. There are so many thoughtful design details in this girl's nursery, like a DIY painted accent wall, handmade flower garland strung across the ceiling, and two 1950's bookshelves passed down through several generations. For today's guest post, Andrea is welcoming blog readers into Summer's white & seafoam-hued serene space with a personal tour and shopping source list...

One of my best friends was in town this weekend and, as she's the incredibly talented designer behind the Cosa Fina baby fingerprint pendant necklace, we worked on obtaining the perfect print off Townes...

When I was pregnant, we didn't found out our baby's gender. Surprise! And I thought my son was a girl the whole time. (You can read more about that subject in my article "Babe's Anatomy" in the April 2013 issue of Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine.) Back then, we also lived in a one-bedroom apartment and my "nursery" space was just a nook beside our bed. But eventually we moved into a bigger place, and for the last few months, we've had a blast playing around with Townes' room to make it a playful, engaging & inspiring nursery. Want to take a peek inside?

When I first received a Petites Frites Teether Blanket in the mail, my son was under three months old and he didn't pay much attention to it. We loved using the blanket (which I reviewed here), and I tucked the teething blankie away for another month or so. And then all the sudden all Townes wanted to do was stick things in his mouth and gnaw on objects and drool all over the place, and enter the Petites Frites Teething Blanket. Here are my thoughts on this baby product after two months of testing...

Last night we saw Warhorse at Lincoln Center. We first heard of this play (which is also a best-selling children's book and upcoming movie) from one of my dad's oldest friends, Tom, who is a composer, lyricist, and music producer here in New York. Over dinner one night a few months ago, Tom and his wife raved about the Warhorse production and once we heard the premise, we were captivated...

Monday, September 26, 2011 One of my personal challenges this year was to learn how to make something. ANYTHING. I'm totally jealous of the amazing things my crafty friends create (ahem, Lesley, Carey, Amanda.) Well, since I got to hang out with my mom recently, I asked her to teach me the basics of using a sewing machine. So she set up her Bernina, gave me a stellar 101 class, and left town for two weeks. Intimidating? Yes. But I followed a pattern, then made up a few of my own, rethreaded the Bernina just fine, and successfully fixed the machine after a two-hour tension ordeal. When I was frustrated with how writing was going, I played reruns of Project Runway and mindlessly stitched away. I found myself actually looking forward to my craft time. So, want to see my finished goods? (Set your expectations low, people.) Here you go!

At my sister's house last weekend, I noticed that a bottle cap was embedded into the bottom of the bathroom soap. A little cap prevents a bar of soap from sticking onto the counter top – brills!
{FYI, I flipped the soap over to take the pic}
