Yesterday was my niece's 8th rock star birthday party, held at a church out in Jersey. There was live music, a guitar cupcake cake, and a candy-stuffed piñata. Good times!
I drove my first hybrid out there – a Honda Insight. It was really fun to drive, and even though I went 160 miles round-trip, I barely made a dent in the gas tank. Pretty sure this will be my go-to zipcar when we aren't traveling with our dogs.

This afternoon I worked from the Turtle Back Zoo in northern New Jersey. I brought my nieces along – they really liked the black bears, red panda, great horned owl, porcupine and red fox. We did a little lesson on animals native to the new england area, so it was fun + productive :)

Are you enjoying your weekend? As much as I love this time of year, we spent many, MANY hours yesterday raking & blowing all the fallen leaves on the property. My arms and back are really sore today!
Off to trick-or-treat? My nieces are dressed up in beyond adorable & elaborate costumes – Hermoine Granger & Kaya AmericanGirl – Such a fun holiday! Enjoy tonight & be safe.

It was an incredibly fun, jam-packed Saturday babysitting our young nieces, complete with a home spun talent show, fondue & salad dinner, soccer scrimmage in the pasture & movie night. So yesterday after church my husband and I had a date afternoon & went wine tasting in Ringoes, New Jersey, a beautiful rural area near Princeton. It was a picturesque Autumn day – We took the top down on the Wrangler and drove along winding country roads, passing wheat, corn, miniature horse, alpaca and sheep farms along the way....

Alright folks.... Here's the video I promised of our visit with a colossal, adoptable farm pig at the Hunterdon County New Jersey SPCA! The voices you hear in the background are 1) my brother 2) my nieces and 3) the SPCA volunteer.....
P.S. I heard an unconfirmed report that this pig actually fell off the back of a meat truck. This individual said she was then found on the side of the highway and taken to the SPCA. Um.... that must have been quite the feat, because this little lady weighs almost 1,000 pounds.
