Prenatal Yoga

One of my pregnancy challenges has been to make sure I get enough exercise. During my writing retreat back in August/September, I started a regular walking routine and have (mostly) continued that schedule since my return to NYC. But about a month ago, I started really missing yoga.....

7 Day Bikram Yoga Challenge

About three years ago I took my first Bikram Yoga class in Atlanta. It was an absolute nightmare for a hundred reasons I won't air out (i.e. I completed the class, but cried in my car afterwards... let's just say that the instructor was very unprofessional). But one of my personal challenges this year was to experience seven Bikram Yoga classes (one per day), finishing off a solid week of practice. Additionally, I commited to walking a 5K every day and taking a cardiovascular trampoline class.

My First Trapeze Class!

My sister was in town for the weekend, so we figured why not try a trapeze class? Even though I'm not the biggest fan of heights, I'm adventurous... After all, I've gone swimming with seven shark species, photographed manta rays from an open-top airplane, encountered venomous snakes in the rainforest and tracked a herd of elephants in Malaysia. Plus, growing up I was part of a competitve gymnastics team and, in my adult years, I've been a regular pilates student. So a two-hour trapeze class? Piece o' cake, right?

Yeah, not so much. Flying on the trapeze was one of the most TERRIFYING and THRILLING things I've ever done...
