St. Lucia's Rainforest

Ziplining in St. Lucia was off the agenda this time (obviously), but we took an aerial tram tour and enjoyed a forest floor hike to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the rainforest....

REVEALED: Secret Animal Mission

You might remember when I jetted off to Florida on a super secret animal mission? Well, now I can finally spill the deets... I observed the Georgia Aquarium ship an 8-foot wide giant manta ray in water, across state borders, on an 8-hour overnight transport. Seriously. I was in the SUV following the truck for the entire journey. Awesome sauce.

These transport posts went live on the National Geographic INSIDE WILD blog in a series. Here's the first blog post What's it Take to Ship a Manta Ray? about preparations and the second blog post Manta Ray Transport...

And if you're up for reading my other recent Nat Geo posts over a cup of coffee this morning, here are some links to new posts:

And... We're Off!

Well, right this very moment I'm on an airplane with a team of biologists and SCUBA divers. We're off to Mexico – It's going to be an exciting, busy week of whale shark research. Follow my journey on Twitter (@Jodi_Kendall) and via the blog. Learn more about our trip and brush up on your whale shark knowledge.

Trolley Trend

Don't you just love spotting a trolley on the streets? And even better... a trolley whisking away a bride and groom? One of my best friends rented a trolley for her wedding party a few years ago. It was so much fun to travel together and hop off at various points along the Delaware River for impromptu photo sessions. We're entering wedding season up north, and I've been spotting the vintage wedding trolley trend everywhere.

Like in historic Annapolis, Maryland...

And charming Red Bank, New Jersey....

So old-fashioned and romantic, don't you think?

Home Sweet Home

I arrived back home in northern New Jersey late last night. I'm so thankful that I didn't have any accidents, flat tires or the like while on the road. While traveling is a blast, it's always good to come home, isn't it? I'm so happy to be back with my husband and dogs. And everything is in bloom here – our little carriage house looks so pretty!

I'm going to take a blogcation for a few days to regroup. I need to spend time with my family and friends (and don't get me started on how much laundry and work writing I have to do!). I'll have lots of posts next week highlighting the other cities I explored on my road trip – like Asheville and Annapolis – and more about my zoo/aquarium tours.

Total statistics from my road trip:
I drove 2,867 miles in six weeks.
Visited eight states.
Spent time with 20 family members.
And hung out with 15 friends.

If you're looking for some light reading this weekend, and if you've been following my posts on the National Geographic WILD channel & DOGS blog, here are a few of my favorite entries....

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! xo
