Potomac River Run

This afternoon I really, really needed a break from my computer. So I slipped on my sneakers and hit the pavement around Arlington, Virginia and a bit of Washington, D.C. The weather was glorious for a relaxing run – overcast, a little windy, maybe sixty degrees or so –and before I knew it, five miles flew by...

D.C. Weekend

I spent the weekend relaxing in Washington D.C.... It was nice to enjoy some down time and catch up with family and friends. I met my 7th niece for the very first time! Between my in-laws and my own family, my husband and I have a total of 10 nieces & nephews.... it's so much fun.

Now I'm back in New Jersey, spending quality time with my husband and dogs. It's great to be home. We saw Inception today – have you seen it yet? AMAZING! Top 5 movies of all time, in my book.

For the next two weeks, I'll be typing away in my writing cave, and I'm really looking forward to it...

Monument Walk

It was a beautiful afternoon here in Washington, D.C. I could really see my husband and I living here one day - I've been here countless times, and I love it more every time I visit! I took a break from working and walked many of the national monuments. Here are a few images from the day...

Hope Diamond

Have you ever seen the Hope Diamond? The famed deep blue stone – which is over 45 carats – was once owned by King Louis XV and Marie Antoinette. It was donated to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum from Harry Winston, Inc. in 1949. Legend has it that the Hope Diamond carries a curse with its beauty.

To honor the fiftieth celebration of the museum collection's crown jewel, the Hope Diamond was displayed bare of its diamond setting, pendant and necklace. I had a chance to see it on my last trip to Washington, D.C. and it is stunning!

P.S. A bit of trivia. Where was the Hope Diamond mined? Find out the answer here.

Tortoise Time

Yesterday I got to hang out with some tortoises. Isn't this guy enormous? He arrived at the National Zoo in the 1950s... no one is exactly sure how old he is! Learn more about the Aldabra tortoise here
